The Spaces Between Completed

Finally the garden is completed.

The black rills, as expected, were very reflective once filled with water. The foliage at the edge of some of the rills lends a softening effect.  Particularly so with the Dryopteris (Fern) whose foliage is so fine and delicate that it creates beautiful reflections.  Also, the Alchemilla mollis softly froths over the edge of the sandstone cobble paving.

The purple slate sections had to be put in by hand.  Slate is usually spread on the ground as a mulch, but in this instance, the individual pieces were placed on their sides and held in place by sand and cement.  This was quite time consuming but the resulting colour and texture was worth the effort and so it warrants two photographs in this gallery.
